Thanks so much for your interest in my work. I hope that you can find answers to your questions here. If not, please feel free to email me through the contact page.

A note about handmade …

These are the hands that make all of the pots. They are not perfect. They have lived a life, and have a story to tell. I like to think that handmade objects are the same. Each pot I make has a story to tell, and you can see that in all the little details, imperfections, and nuances of every piece. These are not factory made pots, and they aren’t for everybody. However, it is my hope that you are here because they are for YOU.

I do try to represent my work honestly in all the pictures you see. However, when you receive your pottery, you may notice a rim that is not perfectly circular, or a clay/glaze interaction that leaves a slight blemish behind, or a rounded bottom mug with a little extra wobble (I like to call that sass). These little unexpected details are the magic of handmade. I find them to be interesting and beautiful. Humans do not need to be perfect to be beautiful and useful in this life, and I truly believe it is the same with the handmade objects that I make. I hope you feel the same!

Thanks for looking!

How things are made/my process:

I am a slab builder—which means that every piece I make starts out flat as a pancake. When I approach a blank slab I consider pattern, texture, and color. The first consideration, pattern, is usually checked off the list by using one of my favorite newsprint transfer designs from Isla transfers. The hexagons, grids, and triangle patterns all come from this transfer technique.  I use handmade and commercially available stamps to add texture to the base layer pattern, with the intention of adding color to these impressions during the next step of the process.
Once a piece has gone through it’s initial bisque firing, I add color to the stamped area.  I then wipe away the excess—leaving the color behind. I use colorful glazes to compliment the patterns and color on the exterior of each vessel. The last step in the making process is to add a layer of liquid quartz to the unglazed exterior of the piece. This step seals the surface and keeps it from staining. The quartz is food safe, and also microwave and dishwasher safe

Above all, every piece I make is a labor of love & intended to spark joy in the everyday rituals of life.

Your shop says “Sold out”, how can I purchase your work?

I work hard to make enough pieces to have new work updates every 12-16 weeks. Update days/times are always announced via my email/text lists and also on my Instagram and Facebook pages. Email and text list subscribers get 1-hr advance shopping during updates.

How can I increase my odds of leaving the shop with the pot I want?

Here are some tips for update day:

1) Create an account on my website--be sure to save your address and payment info--this will save time on update day.
2) Be sure you are signed in to your account 5 minutes before update time
3) Refresh the website page several times at scheduled update time so that the listings that are scheduled to go live will load on your browser
4) Check out each item individually--items are not saved for you just because they are in your cart.  I'm sorry in advance if you experience a "cart jacking".  I have no control over who gets what first.
5) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your ongoing support of my small ceramic business!!!

Do you accept custom orders or holds for items?

In order to be fair to all, I do not hold items for purchase. I don’t usually do customs, but if you reach out to me I’ll consider it depending on my work load and obligations at the time.

Shipping

All ready-to-ship work will be shipped within 1-3 business days via USPS priority mail. International items are shipped international first class.

I try to use all green/ecofriendly packaging with all orders—biodegradable peanuts, recyclable wrap & packing materials, and biodegradable packing tape. Please consider reusing and/or recycling these materials.

Customs & Import tax

Buyer is responsible for any customs or import taxes that may apply. I cannot change the item value on the customs slip. I am not responsible for any delivery delays caused by customs.

Damages

I do my best to pack each item carefully to ensure a safe arrival. Pottery is already fragile and sometimes things happen. If your item arrives broken please contact me immediately. I must be contacted within 72 hours of delivery to receive and refund/replacement.

Can I put my—mug, yunomi, bowl—in the microwave and dishwasher?

Yes! My wares are both microwave and dishwasher safe. But please use common sense when removing vessels from a microwave after they have been heated—as both the vessel and liquid can be hot enough to burn you.

Any wares that are unglazed are treated with liquid quartz sealer are both microwave and dishwasher safe up to 842 degress Fahrenheit.

Care

Pottery is fragile, but with the proper care your pieces should last for many years. Although my work can be put in the dishwasher, hand washing is my cleaning method of choice.

Returns/Exchanges

  • I do not offer exchanges

  • I do not offer returns. Be sure to look at every listing photo! What you see is what you get. All pieces are photographed in bright natural sunlight in my home.
