This mug has been hand built from translucent porcelain. The slab is first rolled out, printed with a newsprint transfer, and hand stamped, before being shaped into the mug form. After the first (bisque) firing, each square is filled in using a ROY G BIV color scheme of celadon glazes—making the white of the porcelain hearts stand out in high contrast. The interior and handle are glazed in a contrasting celadon glaze
