Kaleidoscope bloom

Details: Slab built from porcelain clay. Hand printed with newsprint transfer, and hand stamped before being formed into a mug. After the initial bisque firing, each stamped flower petal is painted one by one with celadon glaze and each dot at the center of each flower is painted one by one.

The interior and handle of the mug are glazed a white celadon glaze. As the “cherry on top” I then cover the entire body and handle of the mug with Mother-of-Pearl luster and then fire for a 3rd time. The effect is truly one-of-a-kind.

After the final firings, the mug butt is sanded buttery smooth. Definitely a labor of love!

***Vessels with mother-of-pearl luster should ideally not be microwaved or put in the dishwasher***
